We know from student surveys that one of the greatest barriers to students entering the semiconductor field is simply that many young people don’t have a full understanding of the landscape and its impact. This can’t be overcome in a classroom alone, so it’s critical students are made aware of the exciting opportunities that exist in the semiconductor industry and how they can pursue them. The EDGE Consortium is expanding student access to internships, externships, and job opportunities by:
- Working with our industry partners to host in-person and virtual student tours of semiconductor facilities and offices followed by Q&A sessions with recently hired employees and university recruiters
- Leveraging the collective weight of EDGE Consortium members’ career services by regularly convening their offices to identify new opportunities, challenges, and best practices to helping students enter the industry
- Partnering with JoinHandshake.com, one of the largest student recruiting platforms, to host a semiconductor industry jobs board that posts EDGE mission-aligned internships, externships, and opportunities for new-tenure employment.
