EDGE Consortium Workforce Development

Bridging the Workforce Gap

While semiconductors now control a vast majority of everyday technologies, from smartphones to household appliances, electric vehicles, and banking systems, the semiconductor industry faces an acute talent shortage. In fact, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) projects 67,000 unfilled jobs by 2030, with 26% of those jobs in engineering.

Recognizing the opportunity to meaningfully expand the STEM field through the CHIPS and Science Act’s multi-billion investment, our goal is to double the number of industry-ready, trained graduates entering the industry. We acknowledge the challenge ahead—thus, we are focusing our efforts on enhancing and leveraging programs across our members to support a broader talent network across disciplines and demographics, ensuring they have the competitive EDGE that is prepared for success in the semiconductor industry.

Expanding The EDGE Consortium

We are excited to continue widening the geographic and demographic representation of the EDGE Consortium, partnering with new member schools on a rolling basis to build an alliance across the U.S. to meet the nation-wide demands for qualified, well-trained talent.
